Original Series 500 Water Level Monitor

4 Light, Quint and Mark 5 - Installation Instructions

Display Module

Locate a position on the pump panel for the display module. Decide if the unit is to be front
mounted or behind the panel mounted.

If the display module is mounted BEHIND THE PANEL, cut an opening using the following
dimensions:
4 Light - 3 3/4" high x 1" wide
Quint - 4 5/8" high x 1" wide
Mark 5 - 5 1/2" high x 1" wide

If the display module is FRONT MOUNTED, cut an opening using the following dimensions:

4 Light - 4.22" high x 2.45" wide
Quint - 5.15" high x 2.40" wide
Mark 5 - 5.769" high x 2.40" wide

Power is supplied to the 4 Light and Quint display modules through (2) #18 gauge wires, red
to power and black to ground.

Power is supplied to the Mark 5 display module through (4) #18 gauge wires, red to power,
black to ground, orange to power, forward of the master switch and brown to "optional"
remote audible or visual alarm.

Units are for use with a negative ground and therefore should not be used on vehicles with a
positive ground system.

Control cable and power supply wires exit out the bottom of the display module. Front mount
unit is supplied with the front mount bezel and (4) #8 self tapping screws.

Control Cable

The display module has approximately 3' of cable exiting from the bottom. The sensor has
approximately 8' exiting off the flange. Route the cabling through the truck and connect the
two connectors firmly together. Additional control cables may be ordered if needed.

Sensor

Sensor should be located in the deepest part of the tank (but not in the sump, or where it
could be affected by the swirling action of the water leaving the tank, or in direct line of the
discharge of the tank fill opening).

If sensor is too long for the tank, cut to length following instructions in the field sizing
technical bulletin.

Sensor requires a 1 1/2" opening in the tank.

(4) - 1/4" holes in a 2" bolt circle are required to install the sensor. When laying out the bolt
holes, be sure that the cable exits from the flange in the direction intended.

Installation Instructions, Mini 4 Light

The Mini 4-light display module is designed to provide an additional readout for water or foam
(or both) in the cab of the truck. Since it is designed for inside the cab it is not
recommended for the outside panel of the apparatus where the conditions are harsher and the
LED's may not be visible in bright daylight. The Mini 4-light may be used alone without any
other display. If this is desired please specify when ordering.

Display Module

If you are mounting the display module into the dashboard, cut a 1.375" x 3.5" rectangular
hole in the desired location. The display module can be ordered for vertical or horizontal
mount.

Use the supplied bezel plate as a template to mark and drill the (4) corner mounting holes
which will secure the display to the dash. (4) #8 self tapping screws are supplied for this
purpose.

Secure the bezel plate to the display module using the supplied #6 black machine screws.
Be sure the arrow sticker on the display module is pointing towards the "full" indicating point
on the bezel.

Route the cable and the hook-up wires through the hole and mount the display module, by
way of the bezel plate, to the dashboard.

Connect the 11' control cable to the display (if needed) and route toward the tank sensor.
Connect the control cable to the "Y" connector off the water sensor cable or to the remote
output from the master control display module (depending upon the style of system you are
using).

Connect the red 18 awg wire to the 12 vdc source after the ignition switch. Connect the black
wire to a ground source.

The display unit is now installed and will operate in conjunction with the master display
module.

Optional under-dash installation: You must request the mounting bracket.

Use the bracket as a template to mark and drill the mounting hole. Mount the
bracket to the dashboard.

Follow steps #3 through #6 above.

Attach the bezel, at the two corner mounting holes on the bezel, to the bracket using the
supplied #6-32 x 1/2" screws.
